Hello again.
I'm Bob Miller ND, with Lesson # 6 of your course on your path to healing and
restoration from grieving. In your previous lesson, we discussed and explored
how the loss issues you were experiencing as a result of the passing of a loved
one may have lowered your sense of self-worth and feelings of value.
In this lesson, we will explore how the next emotion grieving persons usually experience
is worry, anxiety and over-thinking. In this lesson, I will
help you discover the root causes of your worry, how you worry, and
how you can stop the worry and find peace of mind.
When
You Learn These Principles...
When your learn how to release worry and over thinking, you will be free to enjoy life and move forward. When you are burdened down with worry and over thinking, you are
preoccupied, may not be able to sleep, and can't progress in your path to healing and restoration.
Let's examine what happens when you worry,
think too much or become anxious.
It generally consists of:
- Replaying a past event over and over in your mind, constantly rehashing and
thinking about it. If the passing of your loved one was related to an accident, homicide,
suicide or other difficult circumstances, it's not unusual to replay these events over and over in your mind.
- Worry that another loss issue will happen again in the near future.
- Projecting worry onto present day or future events, thinking of every
possible thing that could go wrong.
If this pattern keeps going, your mind is constantly
preoccupied with thoughts of the past and worrisome thoughts of the future, while less and less time is spent on the present moment.
Does This Ever Happen to You ?
Have you ever been reading a book, or someone speaking to you, or trying to meditate or pray,
and realize your mind is off somewhere else, replaying a past event or worrying about a
future event? How would your life improve, if you stayed focused on the present?
When you are absorbed in the past or the future, you are more likely to
make mistakes, have accidents, lose things and miss opportunities.
As you are able to reduce the "worry" , you can focus
your mental attention on those things that will be to your benefit.
Ever Been Worried Sick?
There is an old
adage that says "I was worried sick". There appears to be a connection
between the stomach and worry. That's why performers get "butterflies" in their stomach
before a performance.
Here's How You Can Stop Worry in its Tracks
The Three Exercises to Releasing Worry
- Exercise # 1 Identify how the loss issues now in your life create worry and over thinking, or identify how you worry.
- Exercise # 2 Explore how you will feel and act when you have stopped worry
and over thinking.
- Exercise # 3 Use the Serenity Guided Imagery CD to help you learn fast and easy techniques to let go of worry and have a peaceful mind.
So Let's Get Started With.....Exercise # 1 Discovering
How Sorrow Issues Created Worry or Over Thinking
I'd like you to think about how the losses from the passing of your loved one are creating worry in you.
Think about and discover if you:
- Replay past events.
- Worry if another loss is going to happen to you.
- Project the worry onto other people and events in your life.
If it would be helpful, you may want to write down how you worry and over think.
It's not unusual for grieving persons to have all three examples of worry.

Exercise # 2 -
Picturing and Imagining a Peaceful Mind
Picturing and imagining how your life will be when you no longer worry, over think or
feel anxious is the next exercise in learning to stop worrying.
So Let's Get Started and ......
Answer the following questions for the ways you worry or the things
you worry about;
Question # 1
"What would it feel like if you no longer were worried
about or constantly thought about ________________ ?
Then...Move On To.....
Question
# 2
How would you act or behave differently if you
no longer worried or were anxious?
Question
# 3
How would it feel, if you acted and behaved in the
way you just described?
As we discussed before, just answering these questions puts you on the path to
healing and restoration.
So Let's Conclude With.....Exercise # 3 Use Guided Imagery to Release Worry and Find Peace of Mind
Now that you have learned how you worry and how your life
will improve when you have peace of mind, the next exercise is do the mental imaging work that easily teaches and instructs you how you can do this.
Tranquilities for Persons Experiencing Grief includes the CD and aromatherapy blend
called Serenity. The CD gently walks you through the mental imaging
process needed to let go of worry of sorrow issues and helps you find a peaceful mind.

In your next lesson, I will explain in full detail what Guided
Imagery is, how it works, and how you can use it to
create new positive ways of thinking, but until then, here's a brief overview
of the Serenity CD:
- Rest comfortably with head phones and close your eyes as you listen to the CD
- Rev. Donna Shenk and myself will be speaking on the CD, and will guide you into a state of
relaxation though breathing and relaxing your muscles. Classical hymns and the
sounds of a mountain stream and birds will help you deeply relax.
- On one track of the CD, we invite you to feel God's presence and read an Old Testament scripture, while on the next
track, we ask you to invite Christ's presence and read a New Testament scripture. You can choose the track
that you want to use.
- We will guide you into making a mental picture of worry as a
knotted rope in your stomach.
- We will then gently guide you into picturing and imagining the
knotted rope being loosened and relaxed.(I will explain this in detail in lesson #7)
- You will be instructed to say affirmations and smell the Serenity aromatherapy oil
- Finally, you will be instructed to open your eyes, feeling better than you
have all day.

This entire process only takes about 20 minutes. It may sound simplistic, but it is a
powerful technique that will teach you a fast and
effective way to stop worry in it's tracks.
